July 2

The Oneida Flute Trio

Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Local flutists Eileen Goodell, Cindy Legwaila and Pat Yeman perform popular and classical works in a free concert at the OPL.

 

July 4

Independence Day

Thursday

Oneida Public Library is closed in observance of Independence Day. The library will be open as usual on Friday, July 5, at 9 p.m.

 

July 8

Puppets with Pizazz

Monday at 2:30 p.m.

Puppetmaster Nancy Sander performs her new full-length puppet show “Aladdin,” a comic take on the classic story, for children in the OPL’s Summer Reading Program.

 

July 9

The Masque

Tuesday at 9 a.m.

Children aged 8 to 14 years who have enrolled in the OPL Children’s Summer Theater will meet for the first rehearsal session for “The Masque of Pyramus and Thisbe.”

 

July 15 and 16

AARP’s Drivers Safety Class

Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The AARP offers its Drivers Safety Class to licensed drivers 50 years and older for potential discounts in car insurance. To register, call Bob Fish at 363-0455.

 

July 16

Look! It’s a Pterodactyl

Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

Children in the OPL’s Summer Reading Program will put together their own kites based on their designs inspired by the flying dinosaur, the pterodactyl.

 

July 23

Digging for Dinosaur Bones

Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

Children in the OPL’s Summer Reading Program break up into teams to test their wits by digging up the right answers to questions about dinosaurs. Each right answer earns a bone, and when all the bones are collected, the team will assemble a model dinosaur.

 

July 23

Silverwood Clarinet Choir

Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The 11 members of the Silverwood Clarinet Choir makes their first appearance in Oneida for a free concert of lively music ranging from the classical to jazz to Broadway show tunes.

 

July 26

The Little Red Wagon

Friday at 10 am

Educator Elaine Clark presents a six-session weekly program on Fridays at10 am, July 26-August 30, for preschoolers and their parents or guardians for stories, activities and educational games that will bolster the children’s pre-reading skills.

 

July 30

Down the Rabbit Hole

Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

Children in the OPL’s Summer Reading Program will create bizarre hats and weird costumes to wear at the SRP’s main event, The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, August 13.
