EFD2010AgLeaderLunch725(Seneca Falls, NY – July 2013) The 2013 NY Ag Leadership Luncheon will give farm organization leaders and key state legislative leaders an opportunity to gather and visit. The program to be held Wednesday, August 7 at Rodman Lot and Son Farms during Empire Farm Days will recognize New York’s Agricultural Environmental Management Award winners, the Empire State Potato Growers Scholarship winner, and provide an update on cutting edge research taking place on New York farms.

New York State Agriculture and Markets Commissioner Darrel Aubertine will present the 20th annual New York State Agricultural Environmental Management Award. The NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets, Empire State Potato Growers Association, and American Agriculturist magazine jointly sponsor the award.

Michael Murphy of Wayland, Steuben County will receive the Empire State Potato Growers Association Scholarship award of $500 per academic year for up to four consecutive years of agricultural education at a New York-based college. He will attend Cornell in the fall.

Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Ronald P. Lynch Dean Kathryn Boor will give an update on new and exciting happenings at the ag college.

New York Farm Viability Institute Chairman Jim Bittner will present an overview of the Institute projects that are positively impacting New York’s economy.
