(Morrisville, NY- Sept. 1, 2013) Morrisville State College head women’s Morrisville State Lacrosse logolacrosse coach and assistant sports information director, Amanda Nobis, has announced her resignation after five seasons at the helm of the program.

“I want to thank Amanda for all the work she contributed to women’s lacrosse at Morrisville State,” Athletic Director Greg Carroll said. “Under her direction the program has grown and prospered. The Mustangs are well positioned to move from being a dominant force in the North East Athletic Conference to a true contender throughout Division III.”

Under her direction, the Mustangs have posted an overall record of 41-41, guiding the Mustangs to four straight appearances in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship Tournaments and twice to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) playoffs.

Nobis directed Morrisville State to a season best 13-6 record in 2012, claimed the NEAC regular season and championship tournament titles, and earned the college’s first bid to the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championships.

Along the way, she has coached several all-conference players, had several earn NEAC Scholar-Athlete honors, and herself was named Conference Coach of the Year. Nobis has also spearheaded numerous community service initiatives, including the most recent Domestic Violence Awareness campaign on campus.

“Coach Nobis brought many strengths to the lacrosse program at Morrisville, including a great awareness about the importance community service plays in a well-rounded NCAA experience. Her teams set a very high standard for our department with their commitment to many worthy causes including Special Olympics and the fight against domestic violence,” Carroll said.

“Those efforts, and others, speak volumes about athletics at Morrisville and Amanda’s commitment to character and citizenship.  Speaking for our entire department we wish her the best knowing she is going to be successful after Morrisville.”

“I want to thank Director of Athletics Greg Carroll and the entire Athletic Department for their support over the last five years, for the opportunity to grow as a coach and to help create a great tradition of women’s lacrosse at Morrisville State College,” Nobis said.

“The program will continue to move forward with its solid incoming class for this season, along with a great group of upperclassmen and captains who have a strong work ethic, big hearts and a team-first mentality. I wish them the best of luck and will be following the progress they make this spring.”

A national search will be conducted immediately.
