state-police-seal-150x150 (Vernon Center, NY – Nov. 15, 2013) Oneida-based state police charged a Herkimer woman with marijuana possession after a traffic stop in Vernon Center Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 3:15 p.m. on Nov. 10, Trooper Brandon Maddigan stopped a 2010 Volkswagen Golf on College Hill Road in Vernon Center for operating with illegally tinted windows.  While interviewing the driver, Jacquelyn E. Hendrix, age 20, of Dewey Avenue in Herkimer, a strong odor of marijuana was observed by the trooper to be coming from inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed approximately 31 grams of marijuana packaged in a shoe box on the rear floor of the car.

Hendrix was arrested and processed at the SP Oneida barracks for fifth-degree Criminal Possession of Marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and traffic charges.

Hendrix was released with tickets to appear in the Town of Vernon Court on Nov. 20.
