(Marcy, NY – April 3, 2014) On March 21 State Police in Marcy arrested Nancy L. Stewart, 59, of 7306 East Main St., Westmoreland for one count of fifth-degree Criminal Possession of Stolen Property (A-Misdemeanor) and one count of first-degree Falsifying Business Records (E-Felony)

A burglary investigation was conducted by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department and it was discovered that Stewart had sold stolen property to a pawn shop in the City of Utica.  The property was identified by a victim whose house was burglarized in February 2014.

Stewart was processed and released on appearance tickets returnable to the City of Utica Court on March 28.

Upon further investigation of several burglaries spanning over six Central NY counties, information was developed that Stewart had conspired with a family member to remove, conceal and dispose of evidence related to these burglaries, thus tampering with evidence that could have potentially been used in criminal court proceedings.

On April 3 State Police in Marcy again arrested Stewart and charged her with one count each of fifth-degree Conspiracy (A-Misdemeanor), Tampering with Physical Evidence (E-Felony) and Providing a False Written Statement (A-Misdemeanor).

She was arraigned in the Village of New York Mills Court, and remanded to the Oneida Co Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail.
