(Rochester, NY – April 8, 2014) Jacob Lafaver of Syracuse has been named Empire 8 Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.
Lafaver has earned this title for the second year in a row. He won the 800-meter title at the E8 Conference meet in February with a winning time of 1:58.92. He improved upon that time with a clocking of 1:55.53 for a third-place finish at the NYSCTC Championships at St. Lawrence. He lowered his time even further with a 1:53.69 post to win the ECAC Championship March 7.
Lafaver also was named the E8 Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year last spring after winning conference and state titles in the 800 and posting a personal-best time of 1:52.97 at a meet in Oneonta.
