(Hamilton, NY – Aug. 2014) A “Locked in the Library After-Hours Party,” gift certificate to Colgate Bookstore, Venus Flytrap, nano robots, play-doh, bubbles, puzzles, games and books galore, and much more— we’re so excited to share these big prizes with our Summer Reading Program participants!

If your children or teens signed up to participate in our Summer Reading Program this year, please remind them to bring their completed reading record(s) to the library circulation desk by Aug. 16 to pick up their goodie bag and collect the tickets they have earned to enter to win big ticket prizes. Winners of these Big Prize Drawings will be notified the following week.

We hope you enjoyed our Summer Reading Program this year, and would like to thank the many people, organizations, and businesses who made this program possible: the staff and trustees of the Hamilton Public Library; the Friends of the Library; our Summer Reading Program Volunteers–with special thanks to Anne Marie Weeks, Galina Peschel, Belinda Taylor, and Susan Beattie; Hamilton Community Chest and the Colgate Bookstore for their sponsorship; along with The Hamilton Movie Theater and our area schools and media outlets, for helping us spread the word about our special programs and events.

Looking for a new home for your gently used books that are still in good condition? Give them new life by donating them to the Friends of the Library for their annual book sale! The sale is held Labor Day weekend, but your literary donations may be brought to the library during our regular hours.

Please do not leave books anywhere outside the library building. Small donations may be brought to the circulation desk, and our staff will be happy to direct where to leave larger boxes or greater quantities.

We are unable to use materials that are musty, moldy, mildew or that smell of smoke, as well as textbook and study guides, magazines and readers digest, audio cassettes and VHS tapes; we kindly ask that you not donate these materials to us.

The Friends are also looking for volunteers to help with book sorting, processing materials for recycling, and post-sale clean up. Experienced book sorters may stop by to help anytime, and all other volunteers should call Carolyn Dearnaley at 315.824.9807 to make arrangements. We are very appreciative of your support and generosity, and look forward to seeing you at the book sale later this summer.
