author Rose Senehi

(Cazenovia, NY – Aug. 2014) All are invited to join Rose Senehi, acclaimed author and former Cazenovia resident, in the Cazenovia Public Library Community Room on Thursday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. as she shares her latest book Dancing on Rocks.

In this novel, Senehi takes her readers back to Chimney Rock, a remote little hamlet in North Carolina’s historic Hickory Nut Gorge, and to the people who have kept it alive over the past 200 years.

The fourth novel in Senhi’s Blue Ridge Series, Dancing on Rocks probes a family’s painful memories of a child who disappeared in the middle of the night 25 years ago.  Now Georgie Haydock, sister to the missing child, has returned to Chimney Rock to nurse her ailing mother back to health.

The summer roils as her mother thrashes in her bed, insisting that the strange woman stalking her store downstairs is Georgie’s missing sister.  Through it all, Georgie aches to reunite with the hometown boy she never forgot, yet she fears all the summer’s turmoil will force her to unveil the secret she’s kept since she was six.

Of her Blue Ridge Series, Senehi says, “I have tried to write with empathy about the universal desire to hold onto ones land and heritage against the forces that are changing the places we love.  It is my hope that this series will not only entertain people and create a fascinating mosaic of the history of the area, but also paint a broad picture of the pressures on the Southern Blue Ridge and those who are working to preserve it.”

Senehi attended Syracuse University and lived on a farm outside of Cazenovia until 1996.  With a warmer climate calling her, she moved to Murrells Inlet/Pawleys Island, South Carolina, and later to Chimney Rock, where she continues to live and write full-time.

Senehi has been a featured author at the 2010 South Carolina Book Festival, 2007 “Readers in the Rockies” symposium in Crested Butte, Colorado, the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston in 2006 and 2007, the Amelia Island Book Festival, and the Carolina Mountain Book Festival in Burnsville, NC.
