To the Editor:

(Sept. 2014) With less than nine weeks to Election Day, and only one week until his Democratic primary, Governor Cuomo has avoided every possible overture from his opponents, Fordham Law Professor Zephyr Teachout and Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, to debate. Most New Yorkers have never even heard of these candidates, yet Cuomo refuses to stand up next to them to defend his record.

New York has the highest cost of business, a huge population decline, near 70 percent failure in our public schools.  These are all issues for which we deserve answers and a plan forward.  Additionally, while we are embarrassed by corrupt State officials, Cuomo canceled the Moreland Commission intended to end corruption and restore public trust in government. I suppose you can’t blame Governor Cuomo for not wanting to debate because there doesn’t seem to be much for him to stand on.
