(Morrisville, NY – Sept. 2014) Tai Chi Chuan Class is back for another year. Join MSC Professor, Bill Snyder, as he facilitates at 6:30 p.m. Mondays. Free.

Join us Wednesday, Sept. 17, for the “Utica Beer” & local breweries presentation/book signing at 6:30 p.m. Join local author, Dan Shumway, as he talks about the local breweries back in the day. Also hear as he presents his new book, Utica Beer. Books will be available for purchase and for signing at the end of the evening.

On Friday, Sept. 26, we are having another teen/adult movie night at 7 p.m. We will be showing the sure-to-be-classic film, Fault in Our Stars. We provide the popcorn; just bring your own beverage. The library closes at 8 p.m., so if you have library business to attend to, please come early. NOTE: This movie is PG-13 so we will NOT let anyone under the age of 13 view the movie without a parent/guardian.

Kiddies Korner, our preschool story hour begins in October. Every Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. Stop in and get a schedule today.

The Library Board will meet at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18. The public is welcome to attend.

We are open Monday, Wednesday and Friday noon to 8 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

October Schedule of Events

Library Closures: The library will be closed Monday, Oct. 13, to observe Columbus Day.

Twelfth Annual Pumpkin Coloring Contest: Stop in to the library and pick up your pumpkin coloring contest entry from Wednesday, Oct. 1 through 18. You have until Oct. 18 at 4 p.m. to turn in your creations for judging. Open to toddler through sixth-graders. Winners will be announced at our Halloween party at the end of the month.

Internet Safety: Join us for our second in a series of three common computer topics at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1. Learn how to keep our privacy while surfing on the Internet. If you have a laptop or other Internet device (i.e., phone, e-reader, Kindle Fire, etc.), please bring it. If you don’t, it’s not needed to participate. This is open to those 12 and older. Presented by James Nutt of Odd Job Computing in Morrisville.

Book Talk: On Friday, Oct. 3 at 12:15 p.m., join our book discussion on the book, Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. Stop in and get copies starting Sept. 12, then join us for a discussion. Don’t forget to bring your lunch.

Tai Chi Chuan Class: Come learn Tai Chi Chuan with instructor Bill Snyder. Open to all teens and adults. Best part, it’s free. Join us at 6:30 p.m. Monday Oct. 6, 20 and 27.

Kiddies Korner: Bring the little ones in for our preschool story hour at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7. Help us have fun with the colors of fall as we hear stories and more.

Live Oaks & Dead Folks Historic Talk: Join village/town historian Sue Greenhagen for a virtual tour of the Oakwood Cemetery at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10. Meet some famous, infamous and even bizarre residents of the historic Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse.

Kiddies Korner: Bring the little ones in for our preschool story hour Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 9:45 a.m. We will have a guest children’s author, Tamara Cantarano. She will be sharing her love of books and her series, Mac the Dog.

Family Movie Night: Bring the family in for popcorn and a movie Friday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. We will be showing the movie, Mr. Peabody & Sherman. This will prove solidly entertaining for families seeking a fast-paced, funny cartoon adventure. We provide the popcorn, you provide your beverage.

Kiddies Korner: Bring the little ones in for our preschool story hour at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21. Our preschool story hour this week will be hearing stories about our favorite pets, so bring your preschool child in for this exciting bunch of stories.

“No Votes for Women” presentation/book signing: Join local author Susan Goodier as she talks about her book, No Votes for Women: The New York State Anti-Suffrage Movement at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23. She will explore the complicated history of the suffrage movement in New York state by delving into the stories of women who opposed the expansion of voting rights for women.

Halloween Party: Wear your costumes and join us for a spooky celebration at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24. We will not only announce the winners of the pumpkin coloring contest, but play fun and games and make cool crafts, too.

Kiddies Korner: Bring the little ones in for our preschool story hour at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28. We will celebrate Halloween so bring your preschool child in for some stories and more.

Book Talk: At 12:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, join us for a discussion of the book, Where’d You Go, Bernadette? by Maria Semple. Stop in and get copies starting Oct. 1, then join us for a discussion. Don’t forget to bring your lunch.
