Girl Scout News
(Sept. 2014) “Through Girl Scouts I have learned to help others by getting involved with clean-up projects and planned activities,” said Anica Shepard, a Girl Scout from Clinton.
Girl Scouts is all about providing girls with opportunities that they may not have anywhere else. Girls can climb mountains, show off their dancing skills, build a robot, volunteer at a food pantry, or even travel around the world. There are no limitations as to what a Girl Scout can do.
“Wherever I go if I say I am a Girl Scout, people recognize me as someone who can get things done. I am proud of that,” says Shepard.
There are many ways girls can be part of Girl Scouts. They can go to camp, be part of a troop, attend programs or events and much more. Simply decide to be a Girl Scout, and the rest is up to them.
Girls in kindergarten through 12th grade can join Girl Scouts. The yearly membership fee is $15, and financial assistance is available. For more information, visit gsnypenn.org.

Sept. 17 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Open House at the Bolivar School in Chittenango
Sept. 20 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Oneida Public Library
Oct. 2 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Open House at Lake Street Elementary in Chittenango
Oct. 29 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Canastota Library Recruitment and Information Night
