(Hamilton, NY – Oct. 2014) The Colgate Bookstore and Hamilton Theater announce the fall 2014 season of the Hamilton Book & Movie Club, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23.  The theme of the season is “(Not Just) For Teens,” featuring books and movies originally intended for young adults but increasingly popular with grown-ups.

Adults of all ages and teens are welcome to join the club this season to promote inter-generational discussion; however, ages 13 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult or have parental permission to attend alone. Two subscription plans are available. For more information about this season’s selections or to join the club, visit the Bookstore or contact coordinator Heather Elia at helia@colgate.edu.

The selected books/movies for the fall 2014 (October-December) season are as follows:

Oct. 23: Divergent. Novel by Veronica Roth; 2014 movie starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James. In a future Chicago, 16-year-old Beatrice Prior must choose among five predetermined factions to define her identity for the rest of her life. Her decision is made more difficult when she discovers that she is an anomaly who does not fit into any one group and that the society she lives in is not perfect after all.

Nov. 20: The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Novel by Stephen Chbosky; 2012 movie starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller. Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it, Charlie is navigating through the strange worlds of love, drugs, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and dealing with the loss of a good friend and his favorite aunt.

Dec. 11: The Fault in Our Stars. Novel by John Green; 2014 movie starring Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort and Nat Wolff. Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel Grace Lancaster has never been anything but terminal. But when forced to attend a Cancer Kid Support Group, she meets Augustus Waters, who changes her life in unexpected ways.
