(Oneida, NY – Nov. 2014) Genesee Ted, a Central New York band of old-time musicians and singers, will perform a free concert of folk, blues, bluegrass, country and original tunes at Oneida Public Library on Saturday afternoon, November 22, at 2 p.m.

Featured are veteran musicians Dana Cook on mandolin, guitar, strumstick and vocals; Shirley Stevens on guitar and vocals; Eileen Rose on mountain dulcimer and percussion; and Tom Burr on bass.

Genesee Ted has performed recently at the Nelson Odeon, Christ Church Community Coffee House in Sherrill, Steeple Coffee House, Sparky Town, Tully Train Depot and Creekside Book Store in Skaneateles, among other venues.

Cooke, well-known in the state as both a singer and a songwriter, is president of the Folkus Project in Central New York. He has several CDs out, earning for them five nominations in the Syracuse New Times Sammys Awards.

Stevens is the lead singer and guitarist in the local bluegrass band Diamond Someday. The band’s recent CD has for its title cut, “Lady in Red,” a song Stevens wrote about her grandmother. She also directs music for worship services in area congregations.

Rose, also a songwriter, has played with other local bands, including Larry Hoyt and the Good Acoustics and Mark Zane and Friends.

The latest member of the band, Tom Burr has played folk and bluegrass music with a number of regional bands over the years, including Diamond Someday.
