canastota-librarypic(Canastota, NY – Dec. 2014)  On Tuesday Dec. 9 The Women of Song and the Dancing Divas will perform on the second floor of the Canastota Public Library.  The group has performed at several local venues to favored reviews.

Women of Song and The Dancing Divas are local women who come together to sing, play their own instruments and dance.  Their main purpose is to make you smile. Musicians include Pam Helmer (Keyboard), Cindy Helmer (Guitar) and Sandra Zeigler (Guitar).  The conductor is Shirley Thomas.

The group encourages their audiences to sing along as they take you down memory lane with hits like “Chattanooga Choo Choo” and “Dock of the Bay.”  They’ll also be doing some soulful renditions including “Grandma’s Hand” and “In the Garden,” and some favorite carols as well as “Santa Baby” and “Dona Nobis Pacem.”

The singers are:  Shirley Thomas, Sandra Zeigler, Pam Helmer, Cindy Helmer, Mary Ellen Miller, Rita Smith, Martha Wetzler, Dominica Claire and Linda Perry.

The Dancing Divas include:  Rita Smith, Martha Wetzler, Eileen Townsend, Shirley Thomas, Sandra Zeigler, Donna Henry and Linda Perry.

As a part of the program, Shirley Thomas and Sandra Zeigler have donated a 35mm GE Digital Camera to be raffled off.  The money raised will be donated to the library to help to fund upcoming programs.

Light refreshments will be served following the performance.
