(Dec. 2014) Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney (R, C—New Hartford) announced the passage of the Honor Our Heroes program. The Honor Our Heroes Program allows any member of the United States Armed Forces that has earned a Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, a Distinguished Flying Cross, or a Bronze Star Award, to receive a vehicle decal that pictures the words “Proud Recipient of” and their respective medal.
“Honor Our Heroes recognizes our heroic military members who have made tremendous sacrifices and risked their lives to protect our freedom. These medal recipients deserve every bit of recognition that is available for their bravery and courage on behalf of our country,” said Tenney.
The decal can be acquired after an application, with the signature of a supporting Assembly or Senate member, is sent to the Robert Lee Walsh American Legion Post 337. The Post will then check with the DD form 214 to confirm receipt of the medal. The service is of no charge and the Post will mail the decal. The decal is designated for the passenger side of the vehicle and should not be place in the back window.
Donations are needed to fund the continuance of the Honor Our Heroes Program, and can be sent to the Robert Lee Walsh American Legion Post 337 19 North Main Street Broadalbin, NY 12025.
