winter HF 2014(Town of Lenox, NY – Jan. 2015) Join the Great Swamp Conservancy Feb. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for its annual Winter Hibernation Festival.  Hunt for the GSC Medallion for a money prize; see the Boy Scouts build an igloo, weather permitting; Cross country skiing; snow shoeing with GSC equipment or your own; sledding on the new overlook hill; sled races; tug of war; snow painting and snow sculptures to create.

Take a guided trail walk and find signs of the many active animals who relish being out in the snow. Toast marshmallows over a fire outdoors or warm yourself by the woodstove in the office complex. Indoor fun in the museum includes nature games, interactive and environmental exhibits about wildlife winter habitats, crafts and more.

Hot food will be available. This year the GSC will be making Banack Bread.

Stop by the Swamp Snapper Camera Club booth and have a Valentine photo taken of the whole gang for a small fee.

Come out of hibernation and connect with nature on this family oriented event. Suggested donation: Adults $3, children are free.
