Cazenovia library new(Cazenovia, NY- Jan. 2015) During February at the Cazenovia Public Library, three technology classes will be offered.

On Wednesday Feb. 4 Margaret Teitsch Mulvey will conduct a class on the “Basics of Microsoft Word” and Amy Wyant returns to conduct two intermediate classes— “Ipad Intermediate” Feb. 18 and “Iphone Intermediate” Feb. 25.

 Basics of Microsoft Word – 10 to 11:30 a.m.

The Feb. 4 class targets new PC users and users with limited Word skills.  Instruction will apply generally for computers running on Word 2007, Word 2010, and Word 2013.

Topics covered will be:  Document Setup, Editing and Revision, and Formatting. After the 90-minute instructional period, time will be provided for Q & A. Windows 8 users should bring your own device.

Mulvey, formerly of Cazenovia has a diverse background that spans the military, business, and education arenas.  Additionally, she maintains valuable language and analytical skills that she attained as a cryptologic linguist in the United States Air Force.

She also has extensive experience in technical writing and marketing communications, instructional design and delivery, as well as document design and management. For over twenty years, she has been designing and conducting Microsoft Office instruction at various levels for groups or individuals in businesses, schools, and private homes.

 iPad Intermediate – 3 to 4:30 and 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Do you have a good handle on the basics, but want to go deeper to learn how to use your iPad to do more? Then “iPad Intermediate” with technology specialist Amy Wyant on Feb. 18 is the class for you.

The focus of this class will be on how to use your iPad to organize your life and how to use apps to enhance your experiences.  Also covered will be how to use the library’s digital systems to lend books, magazines, and other media.

The first hour will be a general presentation to the group followed by a 30-minute Q & A session for more specific questions.  Personal training can also be arranged later for anyone wanting a one-on-one session.

 iPhone Intermediate – 3 to 4:30 and 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Two sessions of “iPhone Intermediate” have also been scheduled on Feb. 25.  As with the earlier class, the focus of this class will be on how to use your iPhone to organize your life and how to use apps to enhance your experiences.  How to use the library’s digital systems to lend books, magazines, and other media will also be covered.

Following a general presentation to the group, a 30-minute Q & A session for more specific questions will be held.  Personal training can also be arranged later for anyone wanting a one-on-one session.

With over eleven years of IT experience, Wyant, CEO and President of Tech Geekery, has had a vast array of career experiences including systems efficiency, IT procurement, program development, as well as personalized corporate and private training development.  She has spent the past six years developing custom curriculum for both individual and group training sessions.

All classes will meet in the Library Community Room.
