(New Woodstock, NY – Jan. 2015) Traci Schuster and Brandon Schmidt, two local artists, will team up for an art show full of color and creativity at the New Woodstock Free Library Feb. 2 through March 10.  A reception for the artists will be held Friday Feb. 6 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  The reception and the exhibit are open to the public.

The title of the two-artist exhibit is Color and Abstraction: Art that Symbolizes the Natural World.

TRACI PHOTOTraci says her fascination with art began with Van Gogh’s iconic “Starry Night,” which provided her with “a different way of interpreting nature” and her connection to it.  She credits her high school art teacher and mentor Gordon Muck with fostering her desire to “emotionally express” herself and “transcend learning” to make the art her own.

Brandon, who makes his own art tools instead of using traditional brushes, says “The natural world is very close to me… the inspiration for the majority of the pieces in this show came from my experience with the flooding of Fort Collins, Colorado and the 1700 mile cross-country journey with my fiancé Breanna, that provided the connection with nature that is expressed in my work.”Brandon edited
