mentoring art 2.2015Pictured is Katrina Grimsley, 9 years old of Oneida.

(Hamilton, NY – Feb. 2015) The Mentoring Program enjoyed an art class at the Hamilton Center for the Arts for their February group activity.  Kathy Herold led the mentees through an instruction of tracing shapes and mixing paint colors to create a paint collage.  The mentees also had the opportunity to browse the Broad Street Gallery around the corner, finding inspiration in their many works of art.

Community Actions Mentoring Program serves youth from all over Madison County and we strategically plan our activities throughout the county whenever possible. Some of our upcoming activities are our annual Community Action Literacy Event, a field trip to the Museum of Science and Technology as well as a Flashlight Safari at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. This is in addition to the one on one mentoring that each youth receives every week with their mentor.

The following funders make Community Action’s Mentoring Program possible: Department of Social Services, Madison County Youth Bureau, OPWDD, United Way of Greater Oneida and many other contributions throughout Madison County.

If you have one hour a week, you can make a difference in a local youth’s life. To hear more about this great program at Community Action, please call (315) 697-3588  and ask for Dennis Hoover ext. 24 or Jessica Ginney ext. 42.
