Tax Help for Seniors

Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

IRS certified volunteers under the auspices of Cornell Co-operative Extension will provide free tax help and electronic filing to seniors on a first-come, first-served basis. Seniors should bring all their pertinent tax documents with them. Tax Help at the OPL continues Monday and Wednesday mornings through April 15.

Ready To Read

Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.

This is an early literacy program of rhymes, songs, fingerplay and stories that will help children from birth through two years old to develop pre-reading skills.

Library Vote

Tuesday 12:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

Registered voters in the Oneida Public Library Special Legislature Library District may vote for a candidate for the open seat on the OPL Board of Trustees and vote on a special proposition that seeks voter approval for the construction of a new library facility.

 

March 4

Volunteer tech advisors will be on hand to help users set up and adapt their devices, from iPads and tablets to smart phones and laptops. No appointment is needed.

This is an early literacy program of rhymes, songs, fingerplay and stories that will help children from birth through two years old to develop pre-reading skills.

OPL Board Meeting

Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The Oneida Public Library Board of Trustees March meeting in the library’s Meeting Room, 220 Broad St., Oneida. The public is invited to attend. The Meeting Room, which is on the library’s main floor, permits barrier-free access to the physically handicapped.

Thursday at 10:00 a.m.

This early literacy story hour includes songs, rhymes and activities designed to help children aged 3 to 5 years develop essential pre-reading skills.

WWI on Film: ‘Gallipoli’

Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

Rescheduled from February, the 1981 film “Gallipoli” will be shown on the OPL’s wide screen March 5. The film by Peter Weir chronicles the passage of two young Australians (Mel Gibson and Mark Lee) from peacetime to the horrors of the botched British assault on the Ottoman Empire in 1915. Discussion and refreshments to follow.

Friends of the Library Meeting

Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Friends of the Oneida Public Library will be holding their quarterly meeting in the Oneida Library Meeting Room.

Springhouse’s All-Irish Music Concert

Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

In a free concert for St. Patrick’s Day, the Springhouse trio will perform at the OPL Irish folk and dance music. Featured are Mike Carroll on flute, whistle, bones and vocals; Bill Fahy on mandolin, banjo, guitar and vocals; and Tavia Pellani on fiddle and harp.

Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.

Just for St Patrick’s Day, Michele Ryan, inspired by the Book of Kells, introduces to elementary-school students the art of illuminating manuscripts—with a Celtic flair.

As a special Spring Break program, singer and songwriter Jim McCarthy returns to the OPL to perform for students and parents a sing-along concert of fun and lively songs celebrating children’s books, authors and characters.
