(Cazenovia, NY – April 2015) Cazenovia College’s spring production, “Into the Woods,” will run April 24 to 26 and May 1 to 3 at The Catherine Cummings Theatre in Cazenovia.

Friday and Saturday performances will be held at 8 p.m., and Sunday matinees will open at 2 p.m.

“Into the Woods” is a contemporary musical loosely based on some of Grimms’ Fairy Tales with an original tale mixed in.  The first act intertwines the stories of Cinderella, Jack and the Bean Stalk, Rapunzel, and The Baker and His Wife, describing how they get what they wish for.  Act two is an exploration of what can happen when you get what you wish.

David Lowenstein, Cazenovia College’s artist in residence, will direct the cast made up of Cazenovia College students, members from the Cazenovia community, and the Syracuse theater community.

“The show opened on Broadway in the 1980s and was a big hit.  It has been made popular again with the release of a major motion picture version this past holiday season,” says Lowenstein. “I look forward to having a large cast of students and community singer/actors tackle this musically challenging and sophisticated material.”
