Morrisville Mustangs(Morrisville, NY – April 2015) The Morrisville State men’s lacrosse team has joined efforts with two additional Mustang athletic teams in a Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) community service campaign for 2014-15, hosting a benefit game Saturday, April 18 as they take the field against North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) rival Keuka College at 1 p.m. on Drake Field.

The Wounded Warrior Project is a veteran’s service organization that offers a variety of programs, service and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following the events of Sept. 11, 2001.  WWP’s vision is to “foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history” as it works to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service members, help severely injured service members aid and assist each other and provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.

All proceeds from the contest obtained through gate admission, general donations, 50/50 raffles, and a commemorative jersey auction will be donated directly to the WWP.

Those wishing to place a bid on a commemorative jersey may do so by contacting Assistant Coach Tim Barth at 315-684-6665, or through email at barthts@morrisville.edu. Additional information can also be found on the men’s lacrosse Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/morrisvillemenslax). Bids start at $70 and will be accepted through Saturday, April 25 when the women’s lacrosse team hosts their Wounded Warrior Project benefit game.

Men’s ice hockey joined the WWP efforts of the women’s and men’s lacrosse team’s in February, making this a two season fundraising and awareness effort has been an ongoing effort by the men’s lacrosse team for the past five years.
