meeting1(Solvay, NY – April 2015) A Man for All Seasons – William Pryor Letchworth and the story of Letchworth State Park and the Shaker Village at Groveland has been rescheduled.

On Monday, April 27 M E Messere, well known writer (Back Street Mary) and historian will be speaking on William Pryor Letchworth and the Letchworth State Park’s History.  She will also talk on the story of the Shaker settlement called Groveland.

Letchworth was also the prime mover to remove Epileptics from the stigma of the mental illness in Poorhouses to a treatable condition at a special facility called Craig’s Colony for epileptics.

The lecture will be for the Town of Geddes Historical Society at the Solvay Library on Woods Road at 6 p.m. The lecture is open to the public and is free of charge.

Refreshments will be served and history books will be available for sale including a new Shaker Cookbook.
