Norm Dann Cuts Hop Bines for 2014 Madison County Hop FestNorm Dann cuts hop bines for last year’s Hop Fest.

(Oneida, NY – May 2015) Potted hop plants are once again available to benefit the Madison County Historical Society in Oneida for at least a $5 donation. Potted hop plants are ready to put in the ground now, and will produce the first crop next year.

Plants will also be available at the Hop Shop on Saturday Sept. 19 during the 20th Annual Madison County Hop Fest.

Varieties available include Cascade and “Hedgerow Hops” from the wild stock of the old hop yards near Bouckville NY where commercial hop growing was introduced to Central New York in 1808. These hedgerow hops are a hardy plant, having survived over 150 winters.
