Caz library(Cazenovia, NY – June 2015) From July 1 to Aug. 15 children’s program Coordinator Jenna Wright will have the library brimming with activities for children of all ages and their families.  It kicks off with the annual Teddy Bear Parade on July 3, followed by Story Times—always a  summer favorite at the Library,  the New York State Summer Reading Program where “Every Hero Has a Story,” and a variety of  other activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Teddy Bear Parade:  Friday, July 3 at 10:00 a.m. at Canon Park for children of all ages.

Cazenovia Children’s House and the Library will again sponsor a parade just for children and their teddy bears. Meet at Canon Park for crafts and singing before marching down the sidewalk of Albany Street to the Library lawn where the parade concludes with more festivities and refreshments.  Families are encouraged to decorate their wagons, strollers, trikes, and bears.  And feel free to bring your own percussion instruments.  In case of rain, the festivities will be held in the Library Community Room.

Summer Story Times: In the Story Garden from Monday, July 6 through Friday, Aug. 14 at 10:15 a.m.

“Baby Story Time” for infants from birth to 24 months continues with Betsy Kennedy on Mondays and Tuesdays.

“Books and Play” for ages 2 and older with Jenna Wright will meet on Wednesdays beginning July 8.

“Discovery Time” for ages 3-6 also with Jenna Wright will meet on Fridays beginning July 10.

New York State Summer Reading Program:  Children ages 6 and older can become Superhero Readers at the Library on Wednesdays July 8 through Aug. 5 from 1:30 to 3:00 pm.  Registration is required.  Stop by the Library or call 655-9322 to reserve a spot.

With “Flight” on July 8, children will test the best design for Wonder Woman’s invisible jet and learn how to make Superman fly faster.

During “Water” on July 15, super skills will be needed as children test their dexterity against Aquaman and defeat the evil Iceman.

“Superhero Academy” on July 22 will put children’s superhero skills to the test with a series of challenges that will test their strength, speed, agility, and aim

“Light and Shadows” on July 29 take children on a walk on the dark side to see what it’s like to be the villain.

During “Speed” on Aug. 5 children will compete in a series of fun Superhero challenges that will make them move like the Flash.

Fun for the Whole Family:

Block Parties: Monday, July 6 and Aug. 3 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for ages 3 and older and their families.

Crafter-Noons: In the Story Garden on Thursdays July 9 through Aug. 13 for all ages from 1:30 to 2:30 pm.  Supplies will be provided.

LEGO My Library: Monday, July 13th and August 10th from 3:30 to 4:30 pm for ages 3 and older and their families.

Museum Academy: At Lorenzo State Historic Site on Tuesday, July 14 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm for children ages 8-12.

“Afternoon Tea and Games” will be held in the formal gardens of Lorenzo.  Participants will learn some history of tea and a few rules of etiquette as well as playing fun lawn games and making a journal to take home.  Registration and a $5 supply fee are required.  Stop by the Library or call 655-9322 to reserve a spot.

Celebrate Reading Concert with Jim McCarthy: In the Library Community Room on Thursday, July 16 at 7 pm.

Join in the singing with Jim McCarthy and enjoy an evening of family fun.

Fairy Houses: At the Stone Quarry Hill Art Park on Friday, July 31st at 7:00 pm

Spend the evening at the Art Park and create a fairy house with your child.  Registration is required.  Stop by the Library or call 655-9322 to reserve a spot.

Ready for Kindergarten: Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 1:30 pm
