(New Woodstock, NY – June 2015) The ever popular Summer Reading Program begins Monday July 6 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the New Woodstock Free Library.  A new program or event will be held at 2 p.m. every Monday throughout the summer.

The New York State Summer Reading Program (SRP) is held in libraries all across the State.  Activities vary among libraries, with each library presenting events of local interest, but most adopt the state theme, which this year is “Every Hero has a Story.”

The first SRP at New Woodstock Free Library will be Singer-entertainer Nan Hoffman.  Hoffman has performed before audiences across the United States and Canada.  More than a sing-along, Hoffman’s presentations are educational and appropriate for children of all ages.More information and a full SRP schedule can be obtained at the library or at http://www.midyorklib.org/newwoodstock.

July also brings Old Home Day festivities to New Woodstock.  Old Home Day this year is Saturday, July 25 with activities all day long at various locations around the Hamlet.  Old Home Day is held in New Woodstock every other year.  The theme this year is “The American Flag.”

More than two dozen events and activities will take place during the day, beginning at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast and U.S. flag sale at the Legion.  The library, fire department, church and historical society, among other organizations, will hold events throughout the day, ending with fireworks starting a 9:30 p.m.  There’s something for everyone at the New Woodstock Old Home Day July 25.  For more information visit Facebook: Old Home Days New Woodstock, NY.
