The league is a not-for-profit organization that aims to empower women through a competitive sport while also helping the local community.  Although roller derby’s popularity is often associated with a more staged play from the 1960s and 70s, the modern game is very different. Today the sport is rigorous, athletic, and internationally regulated, and teams are known for promoting grassroots community efforts.

LDDS has two more home bouts this season- July 18 in New Hartford and Aug. 29 in Morrisville.  The league is always recruiting for new skaters as well.
