(Hamilton, NY – July 2015) Soaring harmonies, front-porch picking, down-home gospel and bluegrass songs; all these musical stylings and more will be on display when local bluegrass foursome Cincinnati Creek comes to the Hamilton Village Green Thursday July 30 at 7 p.m.
The band features members who’ve been playing in the area together and separately for over 14 years. Lori Thompson, who plays guitar and mandolin in the band, has been writing original music for several decades, including “The Ghost of Wash Loomis,” a ballad about the infamous Loomis Gang. Rounding out the group are banjoist Chris Pepe, bassist Cathy Martin, and guitar and mandolinist Gary Dygert. Their music can frequently be heard on WKTV’s “Mohawk Valley Living.”
For more than a decade, Arts in the Park has provided area residents with an opportunity to enjoy free live music and participate in the arts community in the heart of downtown Hamilton. This season’s offerings run the gamut from folk to rock, big band to bluegrass, and bluesy Americana to concert band music.
Continuing into August, Arts in the Park will bring Monk Rowe and the Roots of Rock & Roll, a lively trio that covers the 25 years of early rock and roll, from Chuck Berry to Carl Perkins, “In the Mood to Great Balls of Fire” on Aug. 6.
Closing out the summer concert series, fast-emerging indie trio Shivering Timbers brings their ethereal Americana harmonies and bluesy punk sensibilities to the green on Thursday, Aug.13.
Hamilton Arts in the Park is presented by the Village of Hamilton and co-presented by the Earlville Opera House.
