(Canastota, NY – July 2015) A local Canastota High School FBLA student Nichole Delaney recently completed her mandatory Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Officer Training in Greenwich held from July 19 through 24.

Delaney will serve as the New York State FBLA Treasurer for the 2015-2016 year.  She was appointed to this position last April in Rochester at the New York State FBLA Leadership Conference.

During State Officer Training, Delaney worked vigorously with the entire team of 13 officers from throughout New York State to accomplish their requirements for the week. Together the officers worked on the New York State theme, charity, and program of work for the year. This year’s state theme will be “Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow” and New York State FBLA voted to support the Wounded Warrior Project as their state charity.

During the week, the officers also gave speeches and presentations and attended leadership workshops on topics such as plan of action, business communications, accountability, public speaking and effective presentations, parliamentary procedure, and other leadership related topics.  On July 23, the FBLA officers hosted a joint round-table discussion meeting with state officers and advisors from several other Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO’s.)

Future Business Leaders of America is a non-profit nationwide high school organization.  Students compete in various business- and technology-related competitions and learn all about business and leadership excellence. FBLA-PBL is a dynamic organization of young people preparing for success as leaders in our businesses, government, and communities.
