Kellum earns SUNYAC All-Conference honors

(Morrisville, NYy – Nov. 2015) The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its 2015 Field Hockey All-Conference teams, naming Morrisville State College sophomore forward, Lauren Kellum (Morrisville, N.Y.) to its second team.

Kellum finished the season ranked sixth overall in the SUNYAC in points (21) behind her team leading nine goals and three assists. Also ranking sixth in goals scored (9) she averaged 1.40 points per game for the Mustangs, and finished the season with two game winning scores, ranking her sixth in the conference.

Kellum earns SUNYAC All-Conference honors for a second time in her career. The sophomore is a graduate of Morrisville-Eaton Central School and is majoring in travel and tourism at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Mary Orth of Eaton.

Peckham named ECAC Division III Upstate Defensive Player of the Week

The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Corvias Men’s Soccer Players of the Week, naming Morrisville State junior center back, Alan Peckham (Webster, N.Y.) the Division III Upstate Defensive Player of the Week.

Peckham anchored a Mustang defense that didn’t allow a goal during a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) playoff games, starting with a 1-0 decision over Lancaster Bible in the semifinals where he also tallied an assist on the game winning goal.

He then assisted Morrisville State in a 1-0 shutout of Wells College in overtime in the championship game on Sunday, holding the Express to six shots total, and only three on goal.

The junior was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

A graduate of Webster-Schroeder High, Peckham is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Scott Peckham and Sally Amos of Webster.

Rutka named to D3hockey.com Women’s Team of the Week

D3hockey.com presented its inaugural Division III Women’s College Hockey National Team of the Week, naming Morrisville State College’s freshman defender, Kali Rutka (Anchorage, AK) to its second team.

Rutka emerged as a force for the Mustangs on the blue line, rolling up five points on three goals and two assists as Morrisville State opened its inaugural season with a 2-0 weekend.

She opened her first collegiate season with a one goal, one assist performance Friday night in the 5-0 victory over Salem State, following with a three point outing in the 6-0 win on Saturday with her two goals and assist.

The freshman is a liberal arts – humanities and social science major at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Holly and Brian Rutka of Anchorage.
