(Syracuse, NY – Nov. 2015)  Food Bank of Central New York has received a coveted 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for the seventh consecutive year.  Charity Navigator is an independent organization which provides guidance to donors by rating the efficiency of charities throughout the nation on a scale of one through four stars.  Only 2% of charities evaluated have received a 4-star rating for seven consecutive years, indicating that Food Bank of Central New York outperforms most other charities in America.

The four star rating is awarded to charities who adhere to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and execute their mission in a fiscally responsible way.  Among the many highlights, Charity Navigator lauded Food Bank of Central New York for spending 97% of its budget on programs and services.

“It is a significant accomplishment to receive a 4-star rating for seven years in a row. I am proud of the work we do that is supported by a great staff and the community,” stated Kathleen Stress, executive director.
