The Herkimer Generals women’s lacrosse team had two All-Region selections in 2016, helping the program to the fifth spot in the Region 3 by season’s end.

Making it to the first team was Kyli-Marie Towner (Sherrill). The Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major at Herkimer College racked up 33 goals and seven assists for the Generals in her first season of action.

Those 40 points were the second most on the team, scoring the eighth-most goals in the region despite not playing in every game this season. Towner opened the season with nine goals against Jefferson at home, a season-high, finishing the game with 11 points. She also had five hat tricks.

Herkimer’s second team selection was Danae Becker (Cortland). games played this season. That wasn’t it though, as the sophomore also had 102 draw controls which was the second most in the nation. Her season-high was 17 against Jefferson in April, also getting a season-high seven goals in that road game against the Cannoneers.

“Kyli and Danae are top notch players,” said Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach Dianna Ste-Marie. “Both are well respected in the region, by players and coaches. Watching these two play together was like watching a finely choreographed dance, they can read each other without even looking. I wish them the very best in the future, and know they will be successful!”
