Julie Rimel, aka the “ABC Lady,” aka the “Alphabet Lady” is holding a workshop Saturday, June 4, at the New Woodstock free Library.  The workshop, “Easy as 1-2-3, ABC” is free and open to the public. Rimel will show attendees, ages 10 and up, including adults, how to create their own 26-page book from a single sheet of paper. To register for the workshop call 315.662.3134.

A retired math teacher who lives in Manlius, Rimel began collecting books of and about the alphabet in the 1980s. Her collection now numbers over 3,500 books, based on numerous themes, complementary art and unique formats to hold them.

A large exhibit of Rimel’s alphabet-themed art will be on display at the library through June 24. For a preview of her work, search “Julie Rimel the ABC Lady with music by Jamie Willard” on YouTube.

The New Woodstock Free Library now has Madison County recycling punch cards available for sale.

The library also has free passes for adults to the Stone Quarry Hill Art Park.  Children are free.

The Madison County Department of Health is offering free residential water testing. The department has set up an information display at the library. A simple one-page application is also available at the library.

The library is open MondayFriday 1-5 pm, Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7-9 pm, and Saturdays from 10-1 p.m.   The library is also open whenever the blue library flag is displayed.
