Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney (R,C-New Hartford) condemned Albany’s leaders for failing to pass substantive legislation to relieve the economic burden on Upstate New York. Tenney contends that the past six months of session have proven the Democrats are vested only in the priorities of New York City and their special interest donors and are subsequently unfit to govern.

“As the 2016 legislative session spirals to a disappointing close, I’m frustrated the Democrats have chosen to disregard legislation that would reduce the economic burden on working families in favor of their impractical, far left ideological agenda,” said Tenney. “While the Democrats were focused on giving taxpayer-funded college tuition to illegal immigrants and pushing a disastrous wage hike, thousands of New Yorkers have left the state, farms have shut down, and businesses have gone to less oppressive regions around the country. New York’s Democrats have a serious problem of misplaced priorities and are in need of a new direction.

“Through tax breaks including the reduction in the personal income tax, cutting unnecessary regulations, tossing out wasteful spending, advancing serious ethics reform, eliminating bureaucrats and putting businesses and consumers first, we could create a state with the most powerful economy in the country,” Tenney said.
