Movie nightThis summer season (July 1 to Aug. 15), the Cazenovia Public Library will offer free public screenings of classic family movies in the Community Room. Each film will be accompanied by a half hour craft time, starting at 1:30 p.m. We will kick off the season Friday, July 8, at 2 p.m. with The Mighty Ducks (1992), starring Emilio Estevez.

Reckless and self-centered lawyer Gordon Bombay (Estevez) never loses; however, when faced with a court-ordered community service assignment, he is forced to coach a rag-tag peewee hockey team that does nothing but lose. Reluctantly, Bombay takes on the assignment, eventually gaining the respect of the team and realizing that there is more to the sport than winning. Equipped with newfound skills and perspective, the Ducks soar ahead to compete in the toughest game of their lives.

The Mighty Ducks is rated PG and runs 100 minutes. Popcorn will be provided.

Head to the Library before the show to help create our own team of “mighty” ducks! Each participant will have the opportunity to use colored sharpies to decorate a rubber ducky to take home after the movie.

Mark your calendars for the other great films in this series:

  • July 15: Finding Nemo
  • July 22: Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone
  • Aug. 5: Space Jam
  • Aug. 12: A League of their Own

All events at the Cazenovia Public Library are free and open to the public. For more information on this and other Library events, call 655-9322 or visit www.cazenoviapubliclibrary.org.
