04948SpudNationTruck3006The SPUD Nation Food Truck, a 2016 initiative of the U.S. Potato Board, will be at theAugust 9-11, 2016 Empire Farm Days at Rodman Lott and Son Farms in Seneca Falls. Empire Farm Days began as the Potato Field Days in the 1930s.

The truck will source potatoes for its globally-inspired menu at the 2016 Empire Farm Days from McCormick Farms, Bliss, NY, and Williams Farms, Marion, NY. McCormick Farms grows 2,650 acres of potatoes in Western New York. Williams Farms is a potato grower and packer for fresh market and has been the long-term potato provider for Empire Farm Days vendors.

Nonprofit organizations manage all of the food options at Empire Farm Days. The vendors include the NY Beef Producers, NY Corn and Soybean Growers, NY Pork Producers, Lockland School, Ovid Willard Lions Club, Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H Program, Seneca Falls Rotary, Seneca Falls Fire Department, South Seneca Sportsman Club, Spud Nation, and Fowlers Taffy of Sarasota, Florida.

In the Cornell Marketplace, the Women for New York State Wines offer a taste of Welch’s Grape Juice, bottled in Western New York, from 10 am to 4 pm. From 1-4 pm, the ladies of the promotional arm of the New York State Wind Grape Growers association offer a taste of New York wines from white to red to ice wine. Just behind the building, volunteers are roasting sweet corn for purchase.
