wbw2016sThe Madison County Healthy Start Partnership, led by the Madison County Health Department, is celebrating World Breastfeeding Week, August 1-7, 2016 with two special events held at the two Breastfeeding Connections baby weigh stations in Madison County. This year’s theme, “Breastfeeding: A Key to Sustainable Development,” is about how breastfeeding is a key element in getting us to think about how to value our wellbeing from the start of life, how to respect each other, and care for the world we share.

St. Joseph’s Physician’s, the Heritage Group located at 132 ½ Albany Street in Cazenovia is the site of the first World Breastfeeding Week celebration on Monday, August 1 from 5:30-7:00 pm. Oneida Healthcare located at 607 Seneca Avenue in Oneida, is the site of a second celebration on Friday, August 5 from 1-3 pm. Both locations serve as a Breastfeeding Connections baby weigh station.

New or expectant moms and their young children and guests are invited to attend both of these World Breastfeeding Week events. Goodie bags will be provided by Healthy Start Partnership members, including WIC, Community Action Partnership, Oneida Healthcare, Child Care Council of Cornell Cooperative Extension, St. Joseph’s Physicians, and Madison County Health Department.
