Colgate head coach Kathy Brawn officially announced the addition of former Raider Jenna Gibney ’15 to the women’s soccer coaching staff.

Gibney joins another former Raider, Alyssa Manoogian ’13, as an assistant coach. Manoogian is in her second season on staff and Gibney was on board during spring training, allowing Brawn to see first-hand the cohesiveness of her coaching unit.

“When we had an opening on our staff this past spring, I immediately thought of Jenna Gibney,” Brawn said. “Her technical and tactical excellence as a player has translated directly into her ability to coach. Jenna is an outstanding person. We are fortunate to have her back at Colgate.”

Gibney was limited by injuries to just 17 games combined over her final two seasons but played 54 career games for the Raiders, including 23 starts. The defender posted two career goals and two assists, and was a key member of Colgate’s 2012 Patriot League championship squad.

The Wayne, New Jersey, native planned to play professionally after her Colgate graduation but never could fully recover from her collegiate injuries.

“When I got the call from Kathy about a position here, it was a no-brainer,” Gibney said. “I was super excited and totally on-board for coming back. It’s been great to see the other side of things. As a player, I had a really great relationship with Kathy. And now that I have more of a colleague relationship with her, it’s really awesome to have her support and her guidance.”

Colgate opens its 2016 season Aug. 19 at home against Syracuse.
