t_PatriotLeagueLogo-332x221Colgate women’s soccer first-year Kelly Chiavaro has been named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced by the league Monday afternoon.

Chiavaro impressed in her first two collegiate games as she made 16 saves in a pair of double-overtime draws over the weekend. The Blainville, Quebec native made eight stops against Syracuse in Colgate’s season opener on Friday and surrendered just one goal in the opening minute of the game to help the Raiders battle for a 1-1 tie against the ACC foe.

She followed that performance with another big effort against New Hampshire Sunday. Chiavaro once again made eight saves between the pipes, three of which came in the final overtime period, to help Colgate play to a 1-1 double-overtime draw against the Wildcats and secure an unbeaten weekend.

The first-year currently leads the Patriot League with 16 saves. She has tallied a .889 save percentage and 0.82 GAA through two games.

Chiavaro and the Raiders return to action Sunday Aug. 28 when Colgate heads to LSU for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
