From left to right is James Parker, Annalee Patipatanakoon and Roman Borys of the Gryphon Trio.

The Gryphon Trio will perform at Herkimer County Community College on Friday, October 28 at 7 p.m. in the Sarkus Busch Theater located in the Robert McLaughlin College Center. The performance is open to the public free of charge.

The trio recently celebrated their 20th anniversary with Annalee Patipatanakoon on the violin, Roman Borys on the cello and James Parker on the piano. Together, each has made an impression on many audiences due to their high refined, dynamic performances which has established the group as one of the world’s preeminent piano trios. They have several melodic and rhythmic devices that are Middle Eastern and North Indian, allowing the group to perform diverse collaborations, hence aiming for an effect akin to that glorious ‘out-of-time’-ness that occurs when an Arabic Oud solos over the unyielding fixed groove of the band.

The Robert H. Wood Great Artist Series is a result of a generous endowment made to the Herkimer County College Foundation by the late Robert H. Wood, a long-time resident of Ilion, NY.
