Oneida based state police arrested Brandon K. Brooks, age 33, of Westbrook Hills, Syracuse for DWI after investigating a vehicle in a ditch Monday evening.
At approximately 8 p.m. Aug. 22, Madison County 911 dispatched troopers to investigate a vehicle in a ditch along State Route 5 in the town of Lenox.
Upon arrival, Trooper Nathan Parrino observed a 2005 Mitsubishi Galant stuck in a ditch with minor damage and a male, Brooks, lying on the ground next to the car. While speaking with Brooks, Parrino learned that he was the driver, was not injured and observed that he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.
Sobriety tests indicated Brooks was intoxicated and he was taken into custody for DWI. A small quantity of marijuana was located in his vehicle. Brooks was transported to the SP Oneida barracks, where a breath test determined Brooks had a blood alcohol content of .17 percent.
Brooks was issued traffic tickets for DWI, Driving with a BAC of .08% or greater, refusal of a breath screen, consumption of alcohol in a vehicle while driving and unlawful possession of marijuana. Brooks is scheduled to appear at a later date in the Town of Lenox Court.
