The Guardian Award is the highest award available from NFIB and is reserved for legislators who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to small businesses across New York state.

“It is a distinct honor to receive the NFIB’s Guardian Award. When I was elected to the Assembly nearly six years ago, I said I would be an independent voice for our small business community and would fight for their issues and that is exactly what I have done,” said Tenney. “As a small-business owner, I experienced firsthand the burdens our small businesses, family farms and manufacturers face. Crushing taxes, excessive regulation and high energy costs are destroying our small businesses and stopping them from growing and employing in our area.”

“I have advocated cutting the red tape and bureaucratic mess that has stifled our economy and increases the cost of doing business to unsustainable levels. From speaking out against the unfair regulations against our family farms, voting against a crippling $15 minimum wage, to consistently voting against higher taxes and unfunded mandates on our local governments, I have remained committed to improving the economy of Upstate New York. I will continue to support the entrepreneurs and the small business community who create nearly 70 percent of all new jobs,” said Tenney.

During Tenney’s tenure she has received numerous awards and commendations from the NFIB, the Business Council, and Unshackle Upstate applauding her commitment to growing our economy through bolstering job creation and expanding the middle-class through her advocacy for entrepreneurs and small businesses across New York state.
