Caz libraryThe Cazenovia Public Library will host a one-hour Social Security education program on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 7 pm for pre-retirees (ages 50-70). The program, “Making the Most of Social Security,” was developed in response to America’s looming retirement crisis and is designed to help attendees learn how to maximize their Social Security benefits prior to receiving them.

Current statistics show that Social Security makes up nearly 50% of most retiree household incomes today, yet studies also indicate that very few people understand how the system actually works. The material will be presented in an enjoyable format that includes valuable case studies and provides answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.

Less than a year has passed since the Bi-Partisan Budget Act was signed into law on November 2, 2015. These “new rules” have brought about sweeping changes to Social Security. Each day, an estimated 10,000 people turn 62 and become eligible for Social Security retirement benefits. Only now are we beginning to understand the outcome of these reform efforts, the confusion that is being reported at Social Security offices, and the impact of the law on individuals and married couples who recently started collecting benefits.

The program is sponsored by John N. Kalil, Jr., President of Retirement Solutions, LLC. He personally volunteers over 500 hours of his time annually to bring public awareness to various financial literacy topics such as Social Security. Kalil frequently presents at public libraries, school districts, and businesses, and for organizations across Upstate New York. His financial planning background makes him uniquely qualified; he draws from over 20 years of real-world experience working with retirees and understanding the many challenges they face.

Light refreshments will be provided in the Community Room. Seating is limited so stop by the Library or call 655-9322 to reserve a spot.

All events at the Cazenovia Public Library are free and open to the public. For more information on this and other Library events, call 655-9322 or visit www.cazenoviapubliclibrary.org.
