The U.S. Small Business Administration this week announced the four awardees of the Service Disabled Veteran Entrepreneurship Training Program grant.
The grant, offered by the SBA’s Office of Veteran Business Development, assists each grantee with providing entrepreneurial training to service-disabled veterans interested in starting or growing a small business.
The four awardees are:
- Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV): Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families, Syracuse, N.Y. – $100,000
- Veterans Entrepreneurship Program: Riata Center for Entrepreneurship, Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Okla. – $100,000
- Veterans Entrepreneurship Jumpstart Program: St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, Pa. – $50,000
- Dog Tag Bakery, Inc. – Washington, D.C. – $50,000
The SDVETP grant funding competition was open to eligible institutions of higher learning, private organizations or businesses, non-profit community-based organizations, state, local or tribal governmental agencies and non-profit organizations.
The initial award is for 12 months. At the end of the initial grant period, the SBA and the awardees have the option to continue the grant, for up to two additional years.
“The SBA looks forward to working with these outstanding awardees to create opportunities for service-disabled veterans and their families who seek to start or grow a small business,” said Barbara Carson, Associate Administrator, SBA Office of Veterans Business Development. “The SDVETP grantees join SBA’s vast network of resources that empower veterans, service-disabled veterans, and National Guard and Reserve service members, and military spouse entrepreneurs.”
