Crop-WalkThe annual CROP Hunger Walk organized by the Canastota Area Association of Churches will be held on Sunday, October 16.  Registration will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the United Church, 144 West Center St., where the walk will begin at 1:30 p.m. and walkers will gather afterwards.  The Canastota Police Department will provide an escort.

CROP Hunger Walks are community-wide events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by local Christians to raise funds to end hunger at home and around the world. CROP is an acronym that originally stood for Christian Rural Overseas Program but has come to represent Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. Fully 25% of funds raised locally are returned to local programs, including the Compassion Connection food pantry, the Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen, and the Opportunity Shop thrift store.
