Assemblyman Bill Magee and challenger John Salka will answer questions from the audience at a Candidates Forum Thursday, Oct. 27, 7 p.m. in Hamilton at the Colgate Inn. This event is sponsored by the Hamilton Rotary Club.

The two candidates will introduce themselves and explain why they are best qualified to represent the voters of the 121st Assembly District. The District comprises all of Madison County, the major part of Otsego County, the City of Sherrill and four Towns in Oneida County. Audience participants are invited to ask a question addressed to both candidates; they may follow up with a supplementary question to each candidate.

After approximately one hour of questions and answers, the candidates will offer closing statements. Candidates will have their campaign literature available before the debate proceedings start.

Both candidates were nominated by their parties without opposition. Republican John Salka, a member of the Madison County Board of Supervisors from Brookfield, has the Republican, Conservative and Reform parties’ endorsements.

Democrat Bill Magee, a former member of the Madison County Board of Supervisors from Nelson, has represented his Assembly District in Albany since 1990. He has the Democratic and Independence parties’ endorsement.

The Forum is moderated by former Hamilton Mayor Larry Baker. Proceedings will end approximately at 8:30 p.m. Members of the audience can then meet and speak with the candidates.
