Farm BureauProceeds to Benefit Food Bank of Central New York

On Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, from 5 to 9 p.m. members of the Madison County Farm Bureau will host the third annual celebrity bartending night at Owera Vineyards. All tips generated at the event will benefit the hunger-relief mission of Food Bank of Central New York.

In addition, Owera Vineyards will donate 20% of sales at the event to the Food Bank. People that attend will be able to enjoy local wines, beer samples and hard cider along with great food. Music will be provided by The Old Clay Stone.

“We started this event three years ago in an effort to bring the community together with their local farmers and to raise money for such a worthy cause, the Food Bank of Central New York,” said Madison County Farm Bureau Promotion and Education Chair Johanna Bossard. “To see it grow each year has been truly rewarding. We are fortunate to have such wonderful partners that share our dedication to helping those in need.”

“Food Bank relies on partnerships with farmers to support our donation and wholesale programs. The availability of fresh produce, milk and protein items assist in creating nutritious meals for individuals and families in need. We are so pleased to be part of this event to highlight the Farm Bureau’s work while showcasing a local winery and  bringing awareness that hunger does exist in our communities,” Kathleen Stress, Executive Director at Food Bank of Central New York, stated.

Owera Vineyards is a picturesque rural and groomed farm winery including vines, gardens, ponds and orchards located at 5276 East Lake Road. Last year’s event raised $1,750 for the Food Bank’s hunger-relief mission and $1,131 in 2014.
