5K walk/run to benefit Make-A-Wish Central New York

Join Colgate University’s Wishmakers on Campus for their third annual “Walk/Run for Wishes” in Hamilton Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016.

Beginning and ending at Beta Theta Pi, 88 Broad St., Hamilton, the course winds its way through the scenic hills of Hamilton and provides an enjoyable run or leisurely walk. The students initiated the event in 2014. Since that time it has collectively raised more than $24,000 in support of wishes for local children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Registration for the family-friendly walk/run is $20 per person and begins at 11:30 a.m.; the walk/run begins promptly at 1:00 p.m. To register in advance or to form a fundraising team, visit http://2016ColgateWalkForWishes.kintera.org.

Make-A-Wish Central New York is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to granting the special wishes of children living with life-threatening medical conditions. More than just nice gestures, wishes provide the child and family with a bit of respite, and infuse hope, strength and joy into a difficult life experience.

Make-A-Wish is able to continue to share the power of a wish thanks to the generous support of student groups like Colgate’s Wishmakers, as well as individuals and businesses throughout its 15-county region, which includes Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Otsego, St. Lawrence, Tioga and Tompkins counties.
