COLGATE C-GATEColgate VP, Director of Athletics Part of ‘Invisible Women in Sports’ Discussion

Colgate Vice President and Director of Athletics Victoria M. Chun ’91, MA’94 headlines a panel Friday in Orlando celebrating the accomplishments of women of color in sports.

Chun is on a five-member discussion group hosted by the National Consortium for Academics & Sports as part of Diversity Week on the campus of the University of Central Florida. In addition to celebrating accomplishments, the panel also is challenging the current status quo that places women of color at a disadvantage in advancing in the sports industry.

The goal of the “Invisible Women in Sport” topic is to generate a roundtable discussion of academic and career pathways to encourage and improve opportunities for women of color in sports.

Chun, who was promoted to VP in July 2015 and is in her fourth full year as Colgate’s director of athletics, is the only female AD in the Patriot League and one of just eight minority women (four with the sport of football) actively leading an NCAA Division I athletics department.

Chun is one of 40 members and the Patriot League’s lone representative on the NCAA Division I Council, serving this year as a vice-chair. She also was recently named to a two-year term as president of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators.

Panelists joining Chun are Brandi Stuart, Senior Associate AD at Central Florida; Jeanette Bolden, track and field head coach at Central Florida; Nnenna Akotaobi, Associate AD at Swarthmore; and Delise O’Meally, NCAS Executive Director.

Start time Friday is 8:30 a.m. on the UCF campus, Classroom Building 2, Room 204.
