City seeking donations for fireworks
Mayor Leo Matzke
Dear local business owner,
Coming soon is New Year’s Eve. A number of years ago, here in the City, we had fireworks on what is known as First Night to celebrate the coming of the New Year. As a City, we’d like to hold this event again. Since taking over as mayor, I’ve had a number of residents asking if we could start this tradition once again. I would like to hold them around 6pm, early enough in the evening, so the whole family can watch.
It just plain adds fun and excitement to begin 2017.It is with this intention that I am writing this letter, sending it out to individuals and businesses asking for a donation of $50 dollars or more. Our goal is to raise $3,500. If you can help with this, it would be greatly appreciated. We need to have funds collected to secure our fireworks vendor by Dec. 19.
Please send your donation to: Oneida City Central Committee, 155 Madison St., Oneida, N.Y. 13421. The Oneida City Central Committee is a 501-C3 committee so all donations are tax deductible. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me at 315.363.1921.
Sincerely, Leo Matzke
